One child died and two other people were injured due to a house fire in the southern city of Aqaba, the Media Department at the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) said in a statement.

The fire broke out this morning inside a room in the house located in the Shallalah area, the statement added.

The child has died after suffering third-degree burns, while the two others suffered suffocation due to gas inhalation, where one of them was listed in critical health condition.

Firefighters of the CDD managed to extinguish the fire and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the rooms in the house.

However, ambulance and rescue crews provided the necessary first aid to the injured and evacuated them and the deceased to Prince Hashem Military Hospital.
